Developed as a 2019 Greenstone project by Ihno Bilal Dietrich, this course helps the Green School community prepare for whatever comes our way. We build go-bags, personalize action plans, and explore the social context that we would encounter during a large scale emergency in Bali. Much of the day involves fun practice scenarios, great for all ages.

Our one day Disaster Prep Workshop helps you and your family evaluate just how ready you are for whatever emergency might strike next. We help you prepare a practical Go-Bag, so that you can leave your house at a moment’s notice, walk through some emergency possibilities unique to Bali and use practical, hands-on scenarios to highlight the difficulties of coping with a natural disaster or emergency.

We encourage families to attend together so that they can get on the same page and create a customized emergency plan that suits each family’s unique needs.

IN THIS COURSE YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO…

  • Get a realistic sense of what you might expect in an emergency in Bali.

  • Prepare a practical go-bag that could sustain you and your loved ones in the initial stages of an emergency.

  • Use the contents of your bag in practical scenarios.

  • Create a plan that would help you re-contact each other if you were separated and lost phone contact.

  • Create an emergency shelter using local materials.

A Go-Bag is an essential element in caring for yourself and your family when living in Bali. Each day, people around the planet find themselves facing the unexpected need to leave their home quickly. Fire, flood, volcanic eruption, earthquake and civil unrest are just a few of the reasons you might find yourself faced with the choice of what essentials to take with you on a moment’s notice.

The choices you make in those moments could mean the difference between health and illness, even life and death. The best way to ensure your wellbeing is to plan ahead. Creating a bag or backpack that can be stored in your home, in an easy to reach place, will allow you to always be prepared to care for yourself in an emergency. Use the list below to start making a plan that makes sense for you and your household.
